What Kind Of Acne Are You Dealing With?

Let’s face it, acne can be a real jerk.  Not only is it the most frustrating skin condition to deal with because of its many causes, but it can be painful, time-consuming to treat, and can affect your self-esteem.

But did you know that acne is simply the messenger for our body? Acne is your body’s way of saying “hey, there’s something wrong, please help!”

Which, hear me out,  you should be thankful for!  If your body did not give you warning signs about potential issues happening inside you, you could experience more serious problems down the road.

Luckily, we can map what your body is trying to tell you by where you are experiencing your acne.

So don’t shoot the messenger! Instead, learn the language of your body. What kind of acne do you have? What is your body trying to tell you? Let’s find out!

Forehead Breakouts = Not cleaning your face good enough, stress, diet, and/or Candida.

(See the solutions below)

Hairline Breakouts

=

Not cleaning your face good enough or your cleanser is not appropriate for your skin.

Solutions:

  1. Make sure you are spending enough time cleansing your skin. You should be spending one minute working the cleanser into your skin.
  2. Get a good cleanser. Selecting the appropriate cleanser for your skin is very important to getting the results you want.

3 Things you want to look for while choosing the right cleanser:

  1. Non-comedogenic, so it does not clog your pores
  2. Ingredients that are non-irritating to the skin. (Keep reading for this list of irritating ingredients).
  3. Cleansers that have salicylic or glycolic acid.
  4. Rule of thumb, If you are not seeing results in your skin in 1 month’s time, it’s not the product that is right now you.

My personal favorite acne cleanser is Circadia’s Micro-Exfoliating Honey Cleanser

Also, consider changing out pillowcase and cleaning your makeup brushes once a week.

Never Sleep in with your makeup on!

Get a Hydrafacial! This will give your skin a good deep pore cleanout. Removing dead skin, makeup buildup, and environmental pollution that gets trapped deep in your pores. The best part is, in the end, you will see the Hydrafacial catch bucket that will show you all over your gunk form your skin. It’s disturbingly amazing!

Cheek Breakouts = Diet and Stress

Avoid acne-causing food:

  • Dairy
  • Sugar
  • Soy
  • Peanuts
  • Gluten

Destress:

This is a lifestyle you have to choose, it’s usually free but takes up time. But the time well well worth it. Add Meditation into your daily routine. Meditation can look different to everyone. Meditation can be prayer, listening to an app meditation, or go for a walk.Just focus on being present with your breathing.

Check out Brain.fm, Calm, or Meditation Studio. Just ones that we have used that we really like.

Chin and Around Mouth Breakouts = Candida, Constipation, or Hormones

Candida is an overgrowth of that fungus in the gut. It thrives off of sugar. So the first step is cutting out sugars and carbs in your diet. (Follow this diet) Then add these nutrients to your diet to reduce the candida.

  1. Olive Leaf
  2. Spirulina

Constipation is caused by multiple things. You have to add more pre-biotic fiber, which is in mBreakfast, and increase your daily intake of Magnesium, and use SpectraZyme to increase your gut enzymes to properly digest your food. This will help you be more regular.

Jawline and Neck Breakouts = Hormonal Imbalance

This is the hardest acne to fix. And birth control is not the answer.

Hormonal acne is technically just regular acne that develops in response to hormonal imbalance which can lead to an increase in oil production. Certain hormones, particularly testosterone, which increases pre-period, can cause more oil production, while other hormones like estrogen cause less. Progesterone does not increase oil, but it does cause water retention which is why you feel puffy & bloated during that time of the month.

Hormones are never a fun thing to deal with. Symptoms of your hormones being off range all over the place. Common symptoms are breakouts on jawline and neck, hair loss, hard to lose weight, low energy, and low sex drive.

What causes your hormones to be off?

Endocrine disruptors in your personal care products

Common ingredients:

  • Phthalates
  • Parabens
  • Fragrance (Not derived from essential oils)
  • Chemical-Based Sunscreens (Oxybenzone, Avobenzone, and Octinoxate)

Solutions:

  1. Get your hormones tested
  2. Use clean skincare Ingredients
  3. Use a physical block SPF. My personal two favorites areZinc it Over and Rhonda Allison’s Broad Spectrum SPF.

Skincare

Skincare will not fix your hormones but it can help you manage breakouts.

Cystic Stop Treatment

Circadia’s Spot Stop is a magical spot acne treatment that you apply at night, then poof! your cyst is gone in the morning. Using Spot Stop helps your cyst go away fast and prevents forever pimples aka acne scars!

Retinoids (Retinol/Retin-A)

Stimulate the production of fresh, new skin cells which helps fight acne, fade hyperpigmentation, and resurface the skin’s texture for a smooth, even-toned complexion. I recommend Nighttime Repair from Circadia.

Hormonal Balancing Supplements

Schizandra Berries

Exalted as one of the most potent “youth tonics” of all time, Schizandra has held to its reputation, rejuvenating the skin, helping to maintain its moisture while also protecting it from environmental and external stress. Schizandra Berry (Aka, Cupids Berries) is also one of the best ways to balance hormones and increase libido. A good friend of ours was telling us that she knows her hormones are off because she loves her husband but she just doesn’t want to be intimate. We gave her some Schizandra Berries and 2 days later we asked how things were going and her husband chimed in and said, “Great! We need to keep her on auto-ship with those berries!” This is why we call them “Cupid’s Berries”.

EstroFactors

This supplement is going to be the best at helping with balancing hormones. Because most women have too much estrogen and too little progesterone. The greater the difference in this ratio the more severe the symptoms, and the worse your menopause will be. Estrofactors help the body metabolize those excess estrogens.

Chasteberry

Chasteberry is an herb that helps boost progesterone levels. Progesterone is considered a beauty hormone and makes your skin glow. That’s why pregnant women have that glow, because their body is at its peak of progesterone for baby development. Brain fog is another indication of progesterone deficiency, with the right levels of progesterone you will notice more mental clarity.

Testralin

This supplement is going to help balance testosterone levels. When testosterone is out of balance this can increase sebum production that leaves a breeding ground for acne producing bacterial. You can suck that sebum dry with Accutane and other harmful products, but we want to get to the root cause and balance your Testosterone which will balance your sebum production.

Full Face Breakouts

This could be due to a skincare product that you were using that’s aggravating your skin. There are many toxic skincare ingredients that are irritating to the skin.

Common skin irritants are:

  1. Fragrance
  2. Propylene Glycol
  3. Sulfates
